Finding You : The Missionary.

When starting a business, project or launching a product. One of the most important things to have is a vision and mission statement.

The vision statement includes the company’s desired future position, while the mission statement includes the objectives of the company and the approach (goals) to reach its objectives.

Let’s put it this way; The vision is what you see for the company in the future and the mission is how you will accomplish that vision: the doing.

Below is an example of a mission and vision statement of an organization.
Vision : To raise a community of inspired, equipped and influential young leaders, who lead themselves and others.

Mission : To inspire, equip and raise generations of transformational leaders by providing platforms for personal, career and community development.
This is the mission and vision statement of the Bridge Leadership Foundation, founded by Senator Liyel Imoke, an Ex-Governor of Cross River State, Nigeria. The organization is a not-for-profit and has been addressing the gaps in the provision of practical leadership models for young people since its inception in 2011.

Do you understand the difference between a mission and a vision from the above example?

Applying it to yourself

In my last post under finding you series, I shared about being visionary. With a vision you can have a mission.

Your mission is like your aim in life, just like starting a business, what's the aim of that business?

We all have a purpose on earth, another way to finding you is to discover your mission and purpose on earth.

First, what are you passionate about? A passion is a strong emotion or intensive enthusiasm for something.

I'm passionate about Technology.

I see myself as a female lead in the tech field. (Vision)

I use technology to solve societal issues (Mission).

Ask yourself these questions

  • Who are you? ( What do you think or feel about yourself)
  • What goals do you have? (They can be little goals like taking an online course to develop a skill you have)
  • What are you passionate about?
  • Where do you want to be tomorrow?
  • What's your vision?
  • How would you get there?
  • Are you on the right track?

The main aim is knowing who you are based on what you want to become.

An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding; And it is not to be found in foreign lands but in the heart itself (Your heart)

- Robert Louis Stevenson
